redwing june 16,2006. loch berlin opened with a nice set. it was under twenty-five minutes which is fine with me since I can't stand see any band for more than an hour. I think if I were to describe their sound, I would call it what you hear when the earth splits open and unleashes a destructive force so powerful that you never hear your thoughts again. Some early signs of hard drive failure can be heard as glitches in a few songs. Old Growth followed them and they get my sincerest apologies for a bad vocal mix. this was my second redwing show doing sound and these guys exceeded our volume limits in the first rock shattering measure. I was bummed, they were good and deserved a decent mix. after the first song, someone in the crowd shouted "hey sound man, do the job you are getting paid for!", others shouted to turn up the vocals. I replied loudly that I wasn't getting paid and I received no more heckling that night. it was that point that I fully realized the situation I had got myself in which was a category five shit storm. I struggled for the remains of their set to get something worthy of a vocal mix but failed miserably. sorry guys I promise to make it up to you next time. It was also during Old Growth that the recording computer suffered hard drive hemorrhaging which added to the night's comedy of errors. so thats why the downloaded song list is short this time. many thousand sorrys. Life at These speeds closed the show with a stellar performance. I was getting the vocals a lot better sounding and riding the main fader the whole show with a little feedback here and there. We had a microphone failure but the band was kick ass and totally went with the flow. I don't know what their last song was called but it had the singer playing the same chord for about six measures and then everyone at the show started singing. fucking unbelievably amazingatory. I was shitting over the sound for the last two bands but that song totally cheered my up and made all the stress in my exit. see you guys on july 8. jojo.
